Briefly
- Mashblock displays the publicly-available Census 2006 data right down to the individual meshblock level
- The ‘reputation’ component of university rankings seems to favour institutions in cities that people have heard of
- Useful discussion of the Global Innovation Index in the Herald, featuring Shaun Hendy (who now works in the same building as us). I don’t know if the brain drain explanation is true, but it’s the right sort of way to use the data.
