Global temperatures for 2011
NASA’s annual summary of global temperatures is out. 2011 was not the warmest year on record, it was only ninth, a whole eighth of a degree cooler than last year. One of the years that beat 2011 wasn’t even in the twenty-first century. [It was 1998.]

Lots of ammo here for the global warming deniers and the conspiracy theorists.
If you draw a line from the 1998 point to the 2011 point you will see that the line slopes downwards which shows that the earth has actually been cooling for the last 14 years (or 15 years if we assume that the trend continues this year).
Obviously NASA is trying to hide this fact because they haven’t drawn the dark red line all the way out to the right.
As a highly trained statistician I can see yet further significant patterns in the data. I see at least 3 cats, a camel, several dogs and a mouse.

I assume you’ve seen this already? It’s pretty amusing.
